Home Energy Energy Programs Will Boost Rural Economy Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow, Chairwoman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture will be investing $68 million in 540 renewable energy and energy efficient projects across the country, helping to spur domestic energy production while also growing the rural economy and helping to create jobs. The investment, part of the Rural Energy for America Program, aids farmers and landowners in developing homegrown, renewable energy and also in making energy efficiency improvements – helping to reduce overall energy consumption and the need for foreign energy sources. The 2014 Farm Bill includes a robust energy title that received significant funding. “These rural energy programs are critical in strengthening small businesses across the country and helping to spur local economies and create jobs,” Stabenow said. “Through these investments, farmers will be able to install energy efficiency upgrades to their operations to cut energy costs. They will be empowered to harness the energy potential of American grown agriculture – by developing innovative systems to fuel and grow their businesses. Farm energy programs were a major priority for me when writing the 2014 Farm Bill, and I’m pleased to see producers across the country using these programs to strengthen their businesses, grow profits, and continue creating more jobs.”The Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) has helped nearly 4,000 farmers, ranchers and rural business owners lower their energy bills by installing renewable and energy efficient systems. The 2014 Farm Bill provides robust funding for REAP and authorizes a streamlined application process that helps farmers and rural business owners move forward more quickly on small projects. These investments provide opportunities, income and jobs in our nation’s rural communities by investing in the future, ensuring rural communities will be able to thrive in the 21st century economy. Tickets were priced at 1,500 baht which included entrance to the event and the buffet in the evening; it ‘sold out’ weeks ago and this demonstrates the outstanding public support for this one-of-a-kind event which has a unique carnival atmosphere.Father Giovanni Contarin from the Camillian Home (left) gratefully accepts a cheque for 500,000 baht from event organizer Tony Sales.Tony stated that despite the atrocious weather he was delighted with the turnout. In 2012 he hosted the first event hoping to raise 150,000 baht – the event nearly doubled that amount, then in 2013 it raised 1,000,000 baht shared between 4 charities. Water4Life (Rotary Club Eastern Seaboard), Heartt2000, Life Home Trust Project (Phuket) and Camillian Homes.115 people sponsored the 8 teams, and 4 corporations made significant contributions – NB Surveys contributed 150,000 for the second year running. The raffle and auction consisted of dining vouchers from popular Pattaya eateries – Beefeater, Sportsman and Yamato restaurants. Many other items were donated by individuals and by every participating bar.Dr. Jureerat (left) receives a cheque for 500,000 baht on behalf of Dr Philippe Suer (Heartt2000) from Tony Sales. After last year’s event all the teams were invited to visit each of the 4 beneficiaries and every team actively participated in these visits. They could see the actual results of their contribution. One visit was to deliver 250 gravity-fed water filters to the mangrove swamp area, near Chantanaburi, to provide free potable water to 250 families for up to 5 years. This year’s beneficiaries are the Camillian Home and Heartt2000, Tony Sales explained: “250,000 baht makes a difference but 500,000 makes a bigger difference. Camillian is a wonderful place for kids suffering from a variety of disabilities, and we wanted to make a BIG difference. They are building a new extension and we hope that our contribution can see that realized on schedule.”TJ’s team relax in the pool before one the qualifying matches.Tony continued: “Heartt2000 is run by Doctor Philppe Suer who looks after 2000 patients affected with HIV. He has my personal respect as a ‘one man’ humanitarian who invests his own time in helping people with HIV. This illness is not a killer if treated quickly enough – education is the key.”The sponsors for the 2014 event were the Areca Lodge, NB Surveys, LadyBoysPattaya, OzTrail Leisure Products, USVPN, The Beefeater, Sportsman, Yamato and Pattaya Mail & Pattaya Mail TV.Cheerleaders get into the spirit of things.Aside from the charity angle the focus on the day was to have fun, with teams from 8 bars around Pattaya and Bangkok giving up their time and energy to show their positive contribution to society. Since May, many of them have been training hard, honing their skills on the beaches around town in an effort to be crowned worldwide ladyboy water volleyball champions.Last year’s winning team, Sensations, had lost 2 of their key players so TJs, last year’s runners up were keen to take advantage. There were two ‘dark horses’ (Temptations and Check In Bar), competing from Bangkok, and that left everyone unsure of the outcome. The Pattaya teams (Baby Boom, Kings Bar, La Bamba, Sensations, Stringfellows and TJs) were all under pressure to secure a home win.The Areca Lodge sold drinks and food at competitive prices as the ladyboys played game after game and after a while as the rounds became more heated everybody forgot about the rain.A fashion parade and water volleyball tournament go hand in hand. The standard of play has improved vastly over the last few years and the top 5 bars were those that practiced the most – and it showed. In spite of the torrential rain the matches were all completed on time with one critical point, in a deciding game between TJs and Baby Boom, seeing a challenge with the referees actually referring to video footage to confirm the point and decision.Sensations take on Baby Boom in the tournament final at Areca Lodge, Saturday, Nov. 1.In the end it was a black and white finish with Sensations in Black and Baby Boom in white, and yet again Sensations came in first place, earning them the coveted title of 2014 champions. The hugely enjoyable day raised 1,300,000 baht and after expenses 500,000 baht was donated to the Camillian Home and another 500,000 baht to Heartt2000.More information about this unique and colorful event can be found online at www.lbwvb.com. The only ladyboy water volleyball contest in the world took place on Saturday the 1st of November at the Areca Lodge in central Pattaya. This is the third consecutive year the event has taken place and despite dark skies and torrential rains, a loyal turnout of fans and enthusiastic players resulted in it being the greatest fundraiser yet. The whole event is the brainchild of Tony Sales, a man who is keen to show ladyboys (transgenders/transsexuals) in a positive light. “Every strata of society has good and bad – I am proud of all the teams to demonstrate that many ladyboys care about their society and, given the chance, can positively contribute. We have given them that opportunity and they excel,” said Tony.Event organizer Tony Sales (left) presents the winning trophy to the Sensations Bar Team. The venue for the event was the large pool nestled at the rear of Areca Lodge on Soi Diana and it provided the ideal location and size for the 350 people who attended.
TRAINER QUOTES -30- FLAVIEN PRAT, RICHARD’S BOY, SECOND: “I had a good race today. Last time I rode him, I wasn’t on the lead and I think being on the lead today made all the difference. He’s so much better on the turf, he did a great job. It’s always sad to be beat by so little, but I don’t have any excuses.” GARY STEVENS, BOOZER, WINNER: “He loves this turf course. He runs well off the hill even though he hasn’t run off it for a while. Mark had him sharp today and he broke real sharp. I just followed Mike (Smith, aboard Forest Chatter) the whole way down the hill and when we crossed the dirt, I pushed the button and he just ground it out. He’s a lot of fun to ride, he’s a true professional.“I knew when I got up to the top of the hill before the race that he was sharp. He was on his toes; he was dancin’ and prancin’ around. He went into the gate aggressive. I told Mark this morning that I was going to try and put him on the lead, or close to it and he just smiled at me.” MARK GLATT, BOOZER, WINNER: “He comes with his game every time. Sometimes they’re a little bit better than him and sometimes we’re running him at a distance that he’s not at his best, because he’s a good Cal-bred, and to run against Cal-bred company, sometimes the distances fluctuate a little bit.“I think a mile, a mile and a sixteenth are his best distances, a mile and an eighth is a hair too far, and he runs good down the hill. I wasn’t really concerned about him shortening up. He’s pretty versatile.” AL AND SANDEE KIRKWOOD, OWNERS, BOOZER, WINNER: “He’s definitely paid his way for us. We’ve had a lot of fun with him. He’s always competitive. He’s hardly ever off the board. He won a hundred -grander coming down the hill before (California Flag Handicap, Oct. 18, 2014). We ran him a mile-and-an-eighth last time, he ran third behind some real good horses, so we decided he had a little extra wind for this race and he sure did. Gary did a good job riding him and Mark Glatt’s done a good job training him.” NOTES: Winning owners Al and Sandee Kirkwood are from Ridgefield, Washington. They have been in racing since 1988. A major renovation work has begun at the national museum of Liberia to restore its current deplorable condition of fissured walls and every damaged bit of it.The roof of the building, which used to leak from the rains, has been changed along with the damaged wall running parallel to Buchanan Street.Erected in 1862 and once housing the House of Legislature and Supreme Court of Liberia, the museum underwent a minor repair few years ago. But this full scale renovation is the first of its kind after the country’s 14 year-old civil war. Work is now being done on the second and third tiers of the museum, which contain art galleries that illustrate Liberian works of art, transforming them into modern structures. Also, the problem of lack of electricity and pipe-borne water that has hampered the museum for years is being resolved with the installation of electrical wires and water lines. The cost of the renovation is put at US$400,000, with an increase of US$55,000 from last year’s budget of US$345,000. But what remains unclear here is whether damaged cultural artifacts and other historical items will be restored, too.Assistant Culture Minister at the Ministry of information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Louise McMillian said the government regrets the delay in the renovation work at the museum, which was scheduled for last year, adding that the ongoing work clearly demonstrates government’s commitment to preserve cultural artifacts.“The full scale renovation work will ensure that the national museum is restored and rehabilitated to its pre-war status. After the renovation, it will be in a modern state having electricity, plumbing and others. “When the museum is dedicated few months from now it will impact the nation with pride and self-esteem and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s educational agenda as well as providing a touristic engagement with locals and foreigners,” Min. McMillian said. The minister disclosed that to meet the deadline with the expected outputs and outcomes, there will be a regular bi-weekly independent monitoring from stakeholders, and a weekly report submitted to the project manager on completed phases.“We are going to make sure that everything about the project is worked out in a timely manner and completed,” she assured.According to the minister, the project is expected to be dedicated in December this year.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)

Parris’ runs down the right would quickly become a theme in the match and the first one paid immediate dividends as her dinked cross found the head of Kirby who turned it home off the underside of the bar.It was simply the opening gambit in a first half full of England attacks, with Parris at the centre of them. They went close to a carbon copy of the opening in the 15th minute but this time Kirby got her angles wrong, while Daley could not make clean contact on another Parris cross. gameday cracker 3 Nikita Parris was fantastic for the Lionesses The Manchester City forward decided to try herself when she burst into the box again but after shooting straight at goalkeeper Barbara she sent the rebound over.Brazil were creating little going forward – with Telford grateful to see a first-time effort from Debinha go wide in the 14th minute – and their problems grew when star player Marta made an early exit with a hamstring injury.England made a slower start to the second half as Brazil sat further back with a more compact shape. And the first clean opportunity of the half went to the visitors just before the hour mark when Alex Greenwood’s sloppy backpass played in Raquel but Telford – getting the start with regular stopper Karen Bardsley injured – was quickly out to smother the shot. Fran Kirby’s early strike gave England Women a 1-0 friendly win over Brazil at Meadow Lane. The diminutive Kirby headed in with less than two minutes on the clock, but England were unable to add to their lead despite a string of chances – most of which came through the impressive Nikita Parris. 20 August 2009 ‘Live capture, not online applications’ However, Mkhize said applicants should not think they would be able to do the process on their own. Source: BuaNews Population register Live capturing ensured that details were immediately verified from the local office instead of going via head office, reducing waiting time by three to five days, he said. “That is why it’s called live-capture. Officials will capture all your information, including verification of fingerprints, digital signatures, and it’s quicker than manual capturing,” he said. “By Friday last week, the system had been implemented in at least 20 of our offices, and officials in these offices have changed from the manual way of doing things to electronic processing,” the department’s Vusi Mkhize told BuaNews on Tuesday. The department will shortly launch a campaign, which will run until 2011, under which every child under 14 without a birth certificate will be registered, ensuring that children are captured in South Africa’s population register before they apply for an ID. The department wants to ensure that the number of offices with live-capture workstations, valued at between R220 000 and R250 000, is increased dramatically before the end of the year. For security reasons, he said, people would not be able to apply for IDs on the internet. The Department of Home Affairs says its one step closer to implementing its new electronic system for South Africa’s identity documents, after the process proved to be a success for passports. The system has the capacity to capture information for both IDs and passports. He said once all the necessary information technology requirements had been met, the department planned to roll out the system to all Home Affairs offices in the country.

If the Ole Miss Rebels are going to return to form in 2015, they’re going to need all of their star players to get healthy by September. Luckily, it looks like both wide receiver Laquon Treadwell and linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche are ahead of schedule in recovering from broken ankle injuries this past season. Treadwell posted a video of the duo doing sprints this past weekend. They both look to be moving pretty well, all things considered.Ole Miss made some serious noise in the SEC West this year before injuries eventually derailed their dreams of a historic season. Perhaps they’ll be a force to reckon with again in 2015.

RED DEER, A.B. – A central Alberta man faces fraud charges over an oilfield product that was supposed to have resulted in big profits.RCMP say investors instead lost $2.6 million.“It was one of the larger fraud files we’ve had in the area,” Const. William Lewadniuk of the Red Deer Financial Crimes Unit said Friday. After several years passed with no buyout or payout, investors starting asking questions. The man then cut refund cheques.“All of the cheques bounced,” said Lewadniuk. The matter was referred to Blackfalds RCMP in 2013. Eventually, Lewadniuk’s office became involved in a complex investigation that had to unravel a money trail through several numbered companies.Dane Skinner of Sylvan Lake was arrested Wednesday. Lewadniuk said the man was selling a product he said would make fracking operations at oilwells cheaper and more environmentally friendly. He said, for example, he could cut the number of trucks needed on a fracking site to one from five.“He was offering investors the chance to get in on the ground floor for a revolutionary new fracking product,” Lewadniuk said.“He represented the product as if it was going to be sold to another company. If a company’s going to be bought out by another company, typically the stock goes up.”Lewadniuk said the product had never been tested in a commercial setting or at a real oil well. Nor, he said, can police guarantee the seller developed the product himself.Still, at least 16 investors bit.“It’s entirely possible there are additional victims,” Lewadniuk said. He has been released from custody and is to appear in Red Deer provincial court Aug. 8.He faces charges of fraud, money laundering and uttering threats.(THE CANADIAN PRESS)
