A new video from the nonpartisan Vermont Working Landscape Partnership looks at the difficulties facing our farm and forest economy as well as the opportunities the state can pursue to reverse alarming trends. The video, Vermont’s Working Landscape: Keeping it Vital, is narrated by Chris Graff with original music from Colin McCaffrey. It includes stunning photography and trend line graphs, as well as the Partnership’s proposed Action Plan for state policy. The Vermont Council on Rural Development (VCRD) is leading this effort and the 8 minute video is posted at its website www.vtrural.org(link is external). It was produced for VCRD by Montpelier’s Flywheel Communications.Click HERE for video or go to: http://vtrural.org/programs/policy-councils/working-landscape/new-slides…(link is external)The show is intended to help Vermonters understand the quiet crisis that is making it increasingly difficult to make a living on the land and the impact that is having on a landscape valued for its scenic, cultural, economic, environmental and recreational benefits. The video is also available on DVD for local groups (such as land trusts, conservation commissions, school and select boards, energy committees, granges, and tourism councils) to show at conferences and meetings. All Vermonters are invited to join the free Partnership to stay updated and help shape the campaign for the future of Vermont’s Working Landscape.
