Photo compliments: Dionne DurandRoseau, Dominica – July 13th, 2012…The Argentine Republic will fund training of primary and secondary school Spanish teachers following a request from the Government of Dominica.A delegation from the Argentine Ministry of Education earlier this week concluded a fact finding mission here to assess the needs of Dominican schools in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. The Argentine officials met with Education Officials, principals and Spanish teachers to discuss the challenges faced teaching Spanish in schools here. Leonor Corradi of Argentina’s Ministry of Education said the project is part of a programme within her country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs which seeks to promote cooperation among countries in the Southern Hemisphere.“Argentina is interested in helping Dominica in the implementation of Spanish in primary and secondary schools and with teacher education. This came about after a request from the Government of Dominica. “So this is the first mission to see the context, to see your needs, so as to prepare a project to train teachers both in their levels of Spanish and in pedagogical areas,” Corradi said. She said the training would focus on the development of the human resource capacity in Dominican schools in order to improve the study of Spanish.“This idea of assistance is based on sending experts to work with the teachers and principals of Dominican primary and secondary schools. The other part of the project is the idea of bringing teaches to Argentina to do a course in language and culture,” she explained. The project will be implemented over a two-year period.Press Release Share Sharelast_img
