Austin’s Brittany Innis and Northwestern State’s Kelsey Frank are the Southland Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. Southland Athletes of the Week are presented by set a school record for SFA in the 3,000-meter steeplechase over the weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays in Torrance, Calif. The senior crossed the line at 10:28.28 for a 14th place finish that stands as the Southland’s best steeplechase time this season. Innis’ mark ranks 33rd nationally heading into the 2019 Southland Championships set for Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5.Frank performed in one event for Northwestern State, claiming first-place honors in the javelin throw with a 168-5-foot launch at the LSU Alumni Gold in Baton Rouge, La., over the weekend.
