ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit doesn’t always reveal his predictions for the weekend’s biggest college football games. He’s usually calling the games for ABC and wants to avoid any favoritism before the contest kicks off. That’s not the case this weekend, however. Saturday’s biggest college football game between the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans is broadcast on FOX.That means Herbstreit is able to give out his prediction. So, who is Herbie rolling with? He likes the Wolverines.“They’re starting to peak at the right time,” Herbstreit said on this week’s podcast. “A lot of people watched their game a week ago. I had their game against Wisconsin. Jim Harbaugh, I think, finally has a quarterback. That’s the reality. People want to critique Jim. I’ll defend him and say, in fairness to him, their quarterback position has really hurt them with turnovers. Now he’s got a quarterback in Shea Patterson to compliment the physicality in the run game and you throw in (defensive coordinator) Don Brown and that defense. Man, this is a different-feeling Michigan team than what we’ve seen in years past.”Michigan enters the contest as a touchdown favorite, though Michigan State has a history of making this game interesting. The Spartans have won four of the last five games and eight of the last ten.The last game to be played in East Lansing was won by the Wolverines.Michigan and Michigan State kick off at noon ET on Saturday.
