first_imgThe Welsh government has urged estate agents to report competitors who break the lockdown rules on viewings or branch openings, it has been revealed.In an update sent to ARLA Propertymark, Ministers in Wales have said agents should contact their local trading standards or environmental health department who will then investigate any potential breaches.Welsh agents have now face a nearly four week longer lockdown than their English counterparts.As we have reported now on two occasions, some Welsh agents are becoming frustrated by the wait and, in a bid to keep their businesses alive, trying to keep a few transaction ticking over.The Welsh government has reminded agents that the lockdown guidelines remain in force and that while virtual viewings can take place, only house moves that have to proceed contractually can go ahead.Propertymark says it has provided members with resources and information to comply with the rules and raised issues with the Welsh Government about non-compliance.In the meantime, Welsh agents will have to wait until the 18th June to find out if the rules are to be relaxed, when the country’s First Minister Mark Drakeford is due to give his next update.Fines in Wales for non-compliance with the guidelines in Wales range from a £60 fixed penalty up to £1,920 for repeat and serious offenders.lockdown Mark Drakeford propertymark Wales welsh June 12, 2020Nigel LewisWhat’s your opinion?
